Postponed: 2017 MCA Awards

The MCA had hoped to start a stand-alone MCA Presidents' Awards event in 2017 and that was originally scheduled to be held November 10, 2017. The MCA is postponing the concept and looking for a launch in November of 2018. The 2017 MCA Presidents' Awards will be presented at the 2018 Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Details on the location and time for the event should be available later this month.

2015 MCA Awards: Airrington is Junior Player of the Year

BELTON, MO -- The MCA opened the 2016 Annual General Meeting with the announcement of the President's Awards for the 2015 season. Gabe Airrington took the under-18 award for best Junior Player of the Year as he compiled a 5-2 record in Silver Division play and also claimed a tournament win at the Lee's Summit T-Bone Tournament. Brevin Millican was honorable mention as he finished strong with a surprise run to the Silver Division Final as the #5 seed at the 2015 MCA Championship.

MCA AGM To Be Held in Belton

The 2016 Midwest Croquet Association Annual General Meeting will be held at the Belton Community Wellness Center from noon to  2:00 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2016. The meeting is open to all 2015 MCA members and will cover the current financial picture as well as an overview of the overall MCA outlook. In addition, the Third Annual MCA President's Awards will be presented.

2014 MCA President's Awards

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO -- The MCA announced five winners for the 2014 MCA President's Awards at the beginning of the 2015 AGM Meeting on February 7, 2015:

OFF-THE-COURT: JODI ADAMS
Adams earned the Off-the-Court Award for her management of all MCA revenue and expenses during a record year for MCA revenue. The award also recognizes the work she did in 2013 to transition the MCA to a new bank account to accommodate a name change. Honorable Mention: Greg Adams for his work with Mahaffie Farmstead and Sunflower Wickets. Honorable Mention: Matt Griffith for planning and hosting the USCA Nine Wicket National Championship at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, MO.

2014 MCA AGM Highlights

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The 2014 MCA Annual General Meeting started with a discussion on the overall vision and goals for the MCA. To grow the sport in the region, all present agreed that the ultimate goal is to build a multi-court facility dedicated to croquet in the Kansas City area. And once that model is proven, the idea would be to continue adding croquet facilities across the midwest region under the MCA name.

2013 MCA President's Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The 2014 MCA AGM held this past Saturday in Kansas City, MO kicked off with a new wrinkle. The MCA announced winners of four President's Awards. Bill Berg of Cleveland, MO took the Rookie of the Year Award and the Off-the-Court Award. Jodi Adams scored the Most Improved Player Award and Deborah Millican received the Groundskeeper of the Year Award for her extraordinary efforts in prepping the turf at the 2013 Lee's Summit T-Bone Tournament.

No awards were announced for best player. MCA President Dylan Goodwin said, "I think winner's of the points races in each the division's is pretty much the prize for best player, so it would have been a bit redundant to add awards there."

Goodwin said that he ultimately determined the winners in each category after consulting with the MCA board.
