MCA Charts Expansion at 2025 Annual General Meeting

The Midwest Croquet Association (MCA) held its 2025 Annual General Meeting on Friday, April 4, at the Leawood Pioneer Library, marking the organization’s 17th year since officially forming in 2008. Led by President Dylan Goodwin, the meeting gathered board members to approve key updates and lay out a bold path for the future of croquet in the region.

Tournament Series Expansion and New Events

A central highlight of the meeting was the discussion of changes and expansion of the Nine Wicket Series, which has been renamed the MCA Series Tour. The new name reflects that the Series will now include codes other than nine-wicket

In addition, the Series Tour will be a true regional series with the following events confirmed for 2025:

  • Missouri Open - Lee’s Summit, Missouri

  • Indian Territory Open - Tulsa, Oklahoma

  • US Golf Classic - Denver, Colorado

  • Houston Invitational - Houston, Texas

Series Tour Prize Purse Sponsorship Approved

To support the expanded MCA Series Tour, the board unanimously approved a $675 prize purse for the 2025 MCA Series. Based on the final placing in the Series Tour standings the the purse will be awarded as follows: the goal is to raise visibility and incentivize cross-regional participation.

PRO: 1st - $250, 2nd - $125, 3rd - $75
GOLD: 1st - $100, 2nd - $75, 3rd - $50
SILVER: Trophy only for first place
BRONZE: Trophy only for first place

MCA board members are not eligible for the purse, but can compete in the Series Tour and be awarded places and trophies. If a board member finishes in a prize paying place, the purse amounts will be shifted down to the next eligible player (s).

Membership Growth and New Club Structure

The MCA also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of clubs with the same Club Membership option and pricing from 2024:

  • Clubs may join the MCA for $50 annually, which includes up to 10 members.

  • Additional club members are only $2 each.

  • Individual memberships remain available for $20/year.

This model is designed to make it easy for clubs in the region to join the MCA and affordably integrate member costs into their dues structure. It’s a great way for a club to include the benefit of individual MCA membership as a perk to new and existing club members.

Governance and Bylaws Updated for Flexibility

The meeting included a discussion on specific points of the provisional bylaw. The Board then unanimously approved the official organization bylaws.

Board Elections

Reelected board members for 2025 include:

  • Dylan Goodwin (President) – 2-year term

  • Jodi Adams (Treasurer) – 2-year term

  • Greg Clouse – 2-year term

  • Valerie Andruss – 1-year term

  • Justin Marciniak – 1-year term

Looking Ahead

The MCA remains committed to developing the sport throughout the region with an eye on infrastructure, competition and education. Plans for an updated MCA Nine Wicket Rulebook and a referee certification program were also discussed.

The official bylaws are available on the About the MCA page.
