GENERAL QUESTIONS
Why are the fees increased over last year?
The Kansas City Croquet Club is hosting this event and the net proceeds will be put toward developing a true croquet court for the club. The KCCC has been an official USCA club since 2011 and is now on its fifth location. A permanent home for the KCCC is key to developing the sport in the southern sector of the KC metro.
Still, that's quite a bump from the traditional MCA entry?
This is the sixth season of the MCA Nine Wicket Series. Originally fees were kept low to draw in existing nine-wicket players in the area. That really never happened. A typical USCA event is around or over $200 for four days. What we offer compares favorably with USCA events -- advance game schedules, all games scores are recorded, tournaments are a part of a season event, event reports and photos are timely and high quality and the rankings database continues to improve. And as mentioned, it does include lunch.
Do I have to pay through the Eventbrite page?
If you are an MCA member in good standing, we can accept cash or check payment at the event. However, we strongly prefer online payment and registration for efficiency in getting the schedule set and games started promptly at 8:30 a.m. for the event.
I'm a beginner. How can I play in this event?
We hope to have the minimum of four players sign up for our Silver division intended for beginning players. However, if you are not familiar with MCA Nine Wicket rules or if this is your first time to play in an MCA event, please contact kccroquetclub@gmail.com and we'll get you an introductory session.
Will the Silver Division include carry-over deadness?
Yes. What is carry-over deadness? If you're asking, you don't want to know.
When will the game schedules be posted?
Ideally on the evening of Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Only issues with late entries or withdrawals delay the posting of the schedule.
Where will the game schedules be posted?
An enewsletter will be sent, but the game times and links to schedules will be posted on www.midwestcroquet.com first.
